Techno Oil Emerges Most Innovative Company

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has  bestowed its 2014 Industry Awards of “most innovative and impactful company in the downstream’’ on Nigeria’s foremost oil and gas company, Techno Oil Limited.
LCCI said they had put together this maiden award in other to celebrate excellence in industry and commerce in Nigeria business space.
LCCI used the occasion to announce its 125 years of operation in Nigeria.
Speaking at a ceremony, the President of the LCCI, Alhaji Remi Bello, said Techno Oil was among other companies selected after a pain-staking selection process by a jury headed by the Vice Chancellor of Pan African University, Lagos, Prof. Juan Elegido with other distinguished men and women of international repute and captains of industry.
He said Techno Oil’s investment in technologically advanced assets helped the company achieve a daily distribution capacity of 10 million litres of petroleum products through its 45,000 Metric Tonnes fuel terminal facility and other retail outlets across the country.
The firm is presently championing the cooking gas revolution in Lagos and other parts of the country, he said.
The oil firm had made remarkable contributions to the advancement of the Nigerian economy in the past 16 years.
He said Nigerians are not unmindful of the various innovative programmes embarked upon by Techno Oil to advance the Nigerian economy, citing the company’s ground-breaking advocacy to popularise the utilisation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
Speaking on the latest award by the company, the Executive Vice-Chairman of the company, Mrs. Nkechi Obi, said that Techno Oil was humbled by the recognition of its modest contribution to the nation’s growth.
She described Techno Oil as a Nigerian company with a global vision, expressing her excitement that the company had become a dominant player in the downstream.
“All our investments have aided increased National Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and given meaning to the whole essence of the Local Content Act,” she said.
She said that Techno Oil in line with its vision to be the future of energy and a pace-setter had redefined service delivering in the sector, bagging the latest ISO 9001: 2008 Certificate for Quality Management System from the Standard sOrganisation of Nigeria (SON).
“In our bid to ensure utmost safety, innovation, operational efficiency and security, we installed process automation, control system and automated tank gauging system at our fuel depot terminal,” she said.









Obi said that the company had similarly, through its advocacy initiative, ‘’Going Green Revolution’’ partnered with market women across the country to distribute over 50,000 cylinders to indigent Nigerians.
“The advocacy is designed at creating a clean, safe and friendly environment.  The main thrust of the campaign is the need to switch to a healthier source of domestic energy.
“Techno Ltd being a responsible corporate citizen in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects believes that the future of Nigeria is in the hands of the youths. We have followed up on this by embracing the Federal Government’s ‘’Adopt-a-School Programme, adopting some schools in Lagos, Anambra and Abia States,” she said.
The initiative on education prompted the Lagos, Anambra and Abia State Governments to give awards to the management of the company.
She explained that the focus of the programme was anchored on infrastructure renewal and ICT development in the adopted schools.
The latest honour to Techno Oil, adds to the string of high-profile local and international awards clinched by the company in recent years. The Lagos State Government had in February honoured the company for its initiatives in the economic development of the state.
The Abia State Government similarly, honoured the company and invited it to partner with the state in the exploitation of the huge business potential in the state.
In recognition of its outstanding performance in the downstream sector, the Enugu Chamber of Commerce and Industry honoured the executive vice-chairman of the company with its prestigious Keyman Award for 2014.
